One of my travel goals when moving to London was to take a train and travel to Paris. It was one of the first things we planned when we got to the UK. I have always wanted to see Paris in the spring since I have only been there during fall and winter. This was our first family trip to the city of lights and the longest visit to Paris. These were all things I had to consider when planning this travel capsule.
How to Plan a Nine-Day Parisian Travel Capsule?
When I was planning my capsule for the trip, the weather forecast for Paris in April kept changing. I thought the weather in Paris would be similar to the British weather, so I planned a Parisian travel capsule with London’s weather in mind. Eventually, this was a mistake since the weather was much warmer than London, with beautiful sunny spring days.
I have considered various travel capsule systems, such as the 5-4-3-2-1 packing system. With this approach, you select 5 items, such as tops, 4 bottoms, 3 jackets, and so on. This system is quite flexible, allowing you to include accessories in the count or add them separately. Below is an example of a summer travel capsule using this system.
Items in my Travel Capsule
Eventually, I ended up with a 4-3-3-2 travel capsule. It includes 4 knits, 3 tops, 3 trousers, 2 outerwear pieces, and 2 pairs of shoes. I did not count other accessories.

Four Knits
- Beige crewneck knit
- Grey crewneck oversized knit
- Beige Cardigan
- Navy wool knit
Three Tops
- Striped long sleeve t-shirt
- Denim button up
- White t-shirt
Three Trousers
- Straight leg jeans
- White jeans
- Black jeans
Bottoms
- Straight-leg denim
- Olive green cotton trousers
- Beige wide-leg denim
- Brown polka dot midi skirt
Two Outerwear
- Trench coat
- Aviator coat
Shoes
- Black Loafers
- Burgundy Adidas sneakers
Regarding accessories, I packed two bags, one for the day and one for the evening, along with winter accessories, sunglasses, and brown and black belts.
Outfit Combinations
I have worn most of the outfits I had planned for my travel capsule. I made some slight changes due to the warm weather. At the last minute, I added a brown leather blazer to my suitcase. I wore it on warmer days instead of the aviator jacket. When planning my outfits, I aimed to style each item at least twice. Ultimately, I only wore my striped t-shirt once, my denim shirt twice and my white t-shirt three times.
I created one evening look from the items I packed, as shown in the photo below.
Rethinking this capsule, I should have made some alterations, mainly due to the warm weather. I should have replaced one of the knits with a t-shirt and leave out the winter accessories. In addition, I could take only the leather blazer and the trench coat. I also realize that having four pairs of trousers instead of three would be more practical. In this case, my packing system would be 4-4-3-2 for a nine-day travel capsule 🙂
Have you ever tried this travel capsule packing system? If you did, I invite you to share your tips. If not, I hope you find it helpful for your next holiday.

21/06/2024 at 8:29 pmYears ago I discoverd traveling capsules for use during painting workshops abroad. Took only a carry on suitcase, a tote of art supplies and a small backpack style purse. During the trip, other women artists wanted to know how I got so many outfits from such a small suitcase. Capsules are awesome!
