Spring is finally here! Time to say goodbye to the oversized coats, the heavy layers, and the chunky knits. It is also the perfect time to declutter and organize your wardrobe for the coming warm seasons. Although I love getting dressed for transitional weather, spring is more challenging than fall. It seems my style resonates more in autumn, while I tend to get drawn into trends in springtime. In past years I used to add colorful items and romantic tops to my wardrobe. These were items that I eventually resold or gave away. Now that I’m more aware of it, I try adding a touch of color to my jewelry instead.
The weather in my country is quite warm already, with a few rainy days. Therefore, I have planned my spring capsule accordingly.
Capsule Wardrobe Planning – Finding Inspiration
I have a Pinterest mood board for every season that helps me plan my outfits and find inspiration. It also helps me understand the seasonal styles and items I am most drawn to. This spring, I’m all about knit vests, layering button-ups with tank tops and t-shirts, and wearing bright neutrals.
The color palette I chose for this capsule is mainly neutral. However, I have added a touch of green and blue. These are the colors that work best in my wardrobe. If you also want to add a pop of color to your capsule, I suggest choosing one or two colors that will work with most of your items.
Spring Capsule New Additions
There are five new additions to my spring capsule. Two of them are thrifted jackets I bought to replace similar items in my wardrobe. I purchased the blue blazer to exchange it for my pastel blue one, which I rarely wear because of its bright color. Additionally, I found a new military jacket after selling my old one.
I have also added two tops and a knit vest to my wardrobe. I’ve wanted a knit vest that I can wear over a t-shirt, and I found this light grey one in a thrift store. The only new items in my wardrobe are the sleeveless top and the striped button-up.

Blazers & Jackets
I love wearing light outerwear during springtime. This season, I chose two blazers -a brown leather blazer and a blue blazer. I’ve also added my trench coat and my thrifted trench-style jacket. I eventually incorporated a green military jacket to add an edgier element to this capsule.
Knitwear
As the weather here is quite warm already, I decided to keep only two polo neck knits and a cardigan. I have added two sleeveless knit tops to layer under a button-up or a blazer. Finally, I bought a thrifted grey knit vest.
T-Shirts
Another item I missed wearing during winter was my t-shirts. I love wearing them with a blazer or tailored trousers for a smart-casual look. I chose two basic t-shirts, a polo neck t-shirt, a long-sleeved striped t-shirt, and a green printed t-shirt.
Button-ups
Button-ups are a great all-year layering piece. I love wearing them in spring on their own or layered over a t-shirt or a tank top. This capsule includes three classic long-sleeved button-ups – One in white and two striped ones.
Trousers & Jeans
The current capsule includes mainly jeans in various shapes and colors. I wear my light-colored pairs in springtime, adding them to my classic all-year jeans. Regarding trousers, I chose one pair of olive green cargo trousers and a pair of black tailored trousers.
Shoes
I mixed my summer and winter shoes this season, preparing myself for any weather scenario. I included a pair of Converse and a pair of New Balance trainers, adding my brown Chelsea boots and a pair of Birkenstock slides.
Outfit Combinations
Here is a selection of outfits I can create from the items in my capsule. Since I haven’t worn many yet, I took inspiration from last year’s spring and fall outfits. There are many more possible variations I’m excited to explore during the season.
Last year, I created a second version of my spring capsule in May when the weather got hot here, and I may have to do it again this year.
I am trying to be as flexible as possible with my capsule wardrobe. I aim to keep it as a helpful tool, not a burden. If you also plan to build your first capsule wardrobe this spring, don’t forget to check out my capsule wardrobe beginner’s tips that will help you get into the right mindset.
