Winter 2025 Capsule Wardrobe – 30 Items for a Classic Casual Style

Post contains Adlinks

Winter has arrived in London, and it feels like it came too soon this year. The temperatures have already dropped, and heavy coats are out of storage. I would rather spend more time in my jackets and blazers and enjoy the foliage, but time flies, and this year has almost ended.

After expanding my knitwear collection last year, I feel that I have enough knits this year. However, since the cold season is quite long, I plan to expand my coat options. As this is my second winter in London, I feel more prepared to build a capsule wardrobe suitable for the British weather.

Capsule Wardrobe Planning – Finding Inspiration

My winter mood board on Pinterest features coats and warm layers. I love wearing chunky knits, a good pair of jeans, and a big, cosy scarf. As for coats, I am mainly drawn to oversized wool coats, puffer coats, and an aviator or a bomber leather jacket. My winter colour palette tends to be dark, with shades of brown and grey. I’ve also added a pop of red and burgundy to my capsule this season.

Winter Capsule New Additions

This year’s winter capsule wardrobe includes four new items: one coat, two knits and one pair of jeans. I got a secondhand Uniqlo puffer coat that I can wear on days when temperatures are higher than five degrees and do not require a heavy coat. This light, warm puffer has a perfect oversized silhouette, closely aligning with my style.

I added two knits to my knitwear collection. One is a beige half-zip jumper from Uniqlo’s men’s department, which is super warm and cosy. The other is a brown polo knit from COS. I bought it to replace a polo knit I sold last year on Vinted.

My last addition is a pair of straight-leg black jeans. I have been searching for a new pair of black jeans that I can comfortably wear over my thermal leggings. I found a pair I love in Arket with a low-rise waist and wide legs.

Knitwear

Knits are the items I have the most in this wardrobe. I love mixing oversized and cosy knits in several styles. When I buy knits, I always check their wool percentage to ensure they’ll keep me warm throughout winter.

This year’s winter capsule includes fourteen knits:

  • Beige Fairy Isle Knit
  • Half-zip Beige Knit
  • Striped Knit
  • Navy Crewneck Knit
  • Brown Taupe Polo Knit
  • Grey Crewneck Cardigan
  • Two Cardigans in Beige and Green
  • Two Turtleneck Knits in Taupe and Black

Trousers

I have three pairs of jeans, two pairs of corduroy trousers and two pairs of wool trousers in this capsule. I usually wear thermal leggings as a base layer, so I chose trousers that are wide enough to wear with thermals.

Outfit Ideas

Here are sixteen outfit ideas I created from the items in the capsule. I put together outfits in a classic, casual style that I can wear every day but can also be easily adjusted as an office or evening look.

Since moving to London, I have realised that my winter wardrobe has grown significantly, and my existing summer wardrobe has been minimised. After building my winter wardrobe’s foundations last year, I added some colour and diversified it a bit this year, and I’m pretty pleased with the results.
